Deux portes implantées à proximité des anciennes Porte de Paris et Porte Saint-Jean, constituent les entrées et/ou les sorties d’un hypothétique « trou de ver » le long du Thérain, promenade verte qui semble suspendue dans le temps. En partant du Pont de Paris on suit une zone engazonnée dans des trapèzes de béton, plus loin quelques éléments d’un jardin d’enfant, des bancs, de hauts arbres et un square dont l’accès ne se fait plus dans la continuité du chemin, une passerelle est fermée.
La porte-sas, à proximité du Pont de Paris est isolée, sa forme interne évoque la bouche polygonale d’un sas de vaisseau spatial ou/et du diaphragme d’un objectif photo. Des LEDs sur la circonférence interne forment deux chenillards qui s’activent lorsque des passants s’approchent. On peut la comparer à une porte de Lune marquant la séparation entre deux espaces (mondain et spirituel) ouvrant sur un jardin, ici entre l’espace urbain et la promenade sous-bois.
La seconde porte est un parterre situé dans le square Fernand Watteeuw tel un passage obstrué. Deux cercles en brique, dont les centres sont désaxés, sont parcourus de tirets intermittents entre les clés d’une arche et les marqueurs d’une cible. La superficie est bouchée de parpaings et d’un ciment naturel composé de matériaux vernaculaires (silex) et de paillettes.
La porte-sas (ou porte de Lune) en Inox mesure 3 mètres de diamètre externe. Les surfaces de ses parties (ailettes et cercles) sont brossées, micro-billées ou vibrées. Le parterre dans le square Fernand Watteeuw mesure 3 mètres de diamètre et affleure l’herbe au sol.
Two gates located near the old Porte de Paris and Porte Saint-Jean, constitute the entrances and/or exits of a hypothetical "wormhole" along the Thérain, a green promenade that seems suspended in time. Starting from the Pont de Paris, we follow a lawned area in concrete trapezoids, further on some elements of a kindergarten, benches, high trees and a square whose access is no longer in the continuity of the path, a footbridge is closed.
The airlock door, near the Pont de Paris is isolated, its internal shape evokes the polygonal mouth of a spaceship airlock or/and the diaphragm of a camera lens. LEDs on the inner circumference form two chasers that activate when passers-by approach. It can be compared to a Moon door marking the separation between two spaces (worldly and spiritual) opening onto a garden, here between the urban space and the undergrowth walk.
The second door is a parterre located in the square Fernand Watteeuw like an obstructed passage. Two brick circles, whose centers are off-axis, are traversed by intermittent dashes between the keys of an arch and the markers of a target. The surface is filled with concrete blocks and a natural cement composed of vernacular materials (flint) and glitter.
The stainless steel airlock door (or moon door) measures 3 meters in external diameter. The surfaces of its parts (fins and circles) are brushed, micro-blasted or vibrated.
The parterre in the square Fernand Watteeuw measures 3 meters in diameter and is flush with the grass on the ground.
