Lady blue (Labi Blue) - 2006

Une animation vidéo, construite à partir de trois photographies de basse définition, présente en fondu enchaîné un léger déplacement dans l’image d’un bâtiment capturé la nuit. L’illusion d’un plan fixe mal cadré ou d’un pay‐ sage entre-aperçu souligne un trouble du regard, un problème de mise au point qu’une vision quotidienne ten‐ drait à animer. L’éclairage local de l’immeuble paraît en arrondir les angles.
La musique « I Got The (Blues) » de Labi Siffre est diffusée par le biais du projecteur. Musique en ritournelle contrastant avec les nuances de ce morceau, la pauvreté de la sortie sonore et son faible volume s’associent à l’animation et en mémoire : une nostalgie avoisinante pointe en boucle sous la porte ou au travers du mur de ce‐ lui/celle qui se repasse toujours le même morceau, ne jamais oublier l’instant qu’il lui rappelle.
Lady Blue (Labi Blue) se compose de cette association visuelle et sonore qu’un rideau bleu compartimente. Le tissu d’ameublement ornementé de motifs floraux est rigidifié par la tenue du plissage. On se souvient des ten‐ tures d’une chambre de motel, d’une cafétéria ou des rideaux à volets plats d’une fenêtre de transport en com‐ mun, si impersonnels et pourtant si familiers.
A video animation, constructed from three low-definition photographs, presents in crossfade a slight shift in the image of a building captured at night. The illusion of a poorly framed fixed shot or a landscape between glimpses underlines a disturbance of the gaze, a problem of focusing that a daily vision would tend to animate. The building’s local lighting seems to round off the corners.
The music «I Got The (Blues)» by Labi Siffre is broadcast through the projector. Music in ritornello contrasting with the nuances of this piece, the poverty of the sound output and its low volume combine animation and me‐ mory: a neighboring nostalgia points in a loop under the door or through the wall of whoever plays the same song over and over again, never forget the moment that it reminds him / her.
Lady Blue (Labi Blue) is made up of this visual and sound association that a blue curtain compartments. The upholstery fabric decorated with floral motifs is stiffened by the hold of the pleating. We remember the hangings from a motel room, cafeteria, or flat shutter curtains from a window common, so impersonal and yet so familiar.
